Shopping: Bra, Panties, Bikini?

Shopping for lingerie with a girlfriend is easy... right?
The problem is how to buy lingerie for a non-girlfriend girl friend?

You're a guy, you'd know that...
1) Simply shopping for your own stuff is irritating;
2) Shopping for someone else would be a chore;
3) Shopping for a girl would give you a migraine;
4) Shopping for a Bra/Panty/Bikini set: PRICELESS!

Here's some pointers from me,
"How to shop for lingerie for a non-girlfriend girl friend?"

Figure (no pun intended) out the correct size, how?
a) Call to ask; a little straightforward and if she's fine, great!
b) SMS and hint/probe; more subtle, and you store it in your phone!
c) Look around for "sample size"; totally wierd, but it works if you can point out the "sample sized person" to the sales lady.
d) Show or "Mould" the size using your hands; enough said.
...as long as you succeed with any of the above options, you won't need to repeat it 'cos you'll have the size figured out. I was fortunate with option 2.

Once you have the size, where to buy?
a) Walk around Marina Square; very high concentration of lingerie/bikini shops. My count: at least 6 shops.
b) Walk around Suntec City; adjacent high concentration of lingerie/bikini shops. Not as many as (a) but not too few.
...lingerie shopping, here we come!

Which one to choose?
a) See which colour/design she'll like;
if you have no idea what she'll like, choose something you would like!
b) Texture; which material feels nice against the skin, is not abrasive, not plasticky, not stiff?
c) Material; opaque, translucent, transparent?
d) Design; multi straps, gString/thong, etc
e) Ask a cute babe for her opinion (make sure she's not accompanied by boyfriend); start a lingerie conversation and get her number!
...to be executed in the order stated, except for (d) which i'd recommend regardless of the success of the previous steps.

How to buy?
a) Find the size off the shelf; simple, straightforward, unadventurous
b) Ask the salesperson for help; lazy, incompetent, scaredy-cat
c) Offer to buy that cute babe's items for her if she'll check out your items for you; then tell her you'll help validate her purchases "after office hours"... get her number!
d) Bring the items to the cashier, then swipe your card; no choice
...one/combination of the above would work, but i'd strongly recommend (c) if you've made a good pick.

Happy lingerie shopping guys!

This Christmas...

I've learnt that

1) You don't get emails all day: there hasn't been the familiar chime of my inbox all day long, did yours chime? No mails from work, from spammers, from friends, etc.
2) It's not unusual to go back to work: you've got no choice if you have too much work to do and a presentation on Tuesday.
3) Petrol Kiosk attendants work on holidays too: but be grateful especially when you cruise out of petrol along the highway and have to rely on a reserve tank to make it to the petrol kiosk.
4) There ain't extra discounts at petrol kiosks: same petrol, same price.
5) Fish don't get to enjoy the holiday: you don't bring them out, you don't give them presents, do you? More likely you'll neglect them and go out to party...?
6) Bread isn't a good dinner: barely 3hours since the bread meal, i'm hungry.
7) SMSes aren't free: Holidays like these give the Telcos a bonus, what with all the "This Christmas i give you a big hug, you give me a big present!" messages.

Work doesn't stop even for a holiday...

Ever Played Paintball?

It's PAINtful...
if you're shot at point blank range,
or you're shot on the neck,
or the head, or on bare skin;
where i was shot.
Shot on the arm No, it ain't a love bite; Was shot on the neck

But it was quite good (and dirty) fun!

After a short safety and What-To-Do briefing, we entered the paintball battle arena at the Singapore Discovery Centre. Split into two teams of four (therafter five when two more joined in) and armed with look- and feel-alike carbines loaded with little 1cm-diametered paintballs, we fought 5 battles in total, firing a grand total of 1440 paintballs.
Team 1: Zhihao, DanTee, Shim, YongSeet Team 2: Who's Who?

Battles:
1) Protect your balloon, Destroy their Balloon
2) Grab the Flags
3) Grab the Flags, again
4) Last Man/Team Standing
5) Last Man/Team Standing, again
Protect your Balloon, Destroy their Balloon Provide Cover Fire

It was great fun, though a little straining on the thighs due to the frequent squatting-for-cover-then-standing-to-shoot positions. I got hit four times (Head, Neck, Arm, Arm) in the first three battles, was the last man standing in Battle 4, and was co-last man standing in Battle 5 (together with Gus).
All of us POWs?

Watching those infantry battle shows helped 'cos you learn (or at least imitate) how to fire over a low wall without getting shot.

All painted and a little tired after the 1-hour adrenaline rush in battle, we trudged back to our long long assignment weekend; the dreaded OPP.

Condolences to Shawn who got killed in the last battle by Yuh Woei's friendly fire as he ran towards our own home base to evade enemy fire. He still can't get over it.

Parting shot...

Man In The Bubble

If you could choose between these:

1) The department where its members are sent for one- to two-month-long overseas working trips to different countries every half a year;

2) The department which makes the high-power decisions and has the ability to flex its muscle, most often sent head-to-head with rival companies, and occasionally (once every two years) sent for overseas projects;

3) The department where new and secret stuff are developed and tested, where the relationships are strong, and where the work environment is hidden and kept away from prying eyes.

There's a choice to be made... which would you choose, and why?

Bedok Jetty

When was the last time you were there?

Amidst the many assingments and crazy workload, i squeezed some time to have dinner today at Laguna Hawker Centre with Gladys, who had just returned from London for a month-long holiday.

Bedok Jetty
The sea breeze was homely; naturally.
The moonrise was pretty; expectedly.
The anglers were fishing; expectantly.
The ships were at anchor; lazily.
The planes were landing; busily.
The company was warming; pleasantly.

Thanx mei for your company...
it was a nice evening with you and catching up on the many interesting developments in your life.

A Sushi Buffet

Last Sunday i went for a sushi buffet at Honjin Japanese Restaurant somewhere in the CBD. Food was quite good, the company was excellent, but the wait for the food was a little worrying...

Lesson: Don't Order Too Much
When we (latecomers) first arrived we placed an order and started pinching a little from those who arrived earlier. But because the order came much later (30-40mins later), we ordered some more thinking they lost our order; this meant we had A LOT OF food to finish in the end and we had to request for them to cancel the backlog of orders!

(superb-looking photos taken by Yuh Woei, crap ones by me)

As usual the rubbish bin me started asking for "preferred friend" votes while helping them finish their leftovers... more flutter kicks in store to reduce that tummy!

Dank has Dreams...

...of getting a place of his own (rented if it has to be)
...of having fish/shrimp tanks in a place he can call his own
...of being alone to do whatever he wants
...of having no care in the world
...of being accountable to no one
...of visiting the world while enjoying his current job
...of doing what he feels like doing not for anything but for nothing

It sounds so so simple, yet almost impossible.

Sandralicious

It was a great birthday gathering on Saturday, thanx for having me over to join in celebrating your birthday. It was an honour!

Will never forget licking up the fragments of pen**... but all is cool; it probably won't happen ever again in my life!

Happy Birthday Babe!
